"More Fun Matters" class

More Fun Matters classes are for owners that really wish to make the most out of dog ownership; to have the fun and friendship that is possible for all of us that own dogs. In More Fun Matters classes you will learn how to play enjoyable and effective games with your dog that promote their natural dog behaviours and improve their responsiveness and attentiveness to you their owner. The majority of us struggle to find the time (and/or locations) to really physically exercise our dogs as they truly require, but mental stimulation and exercise can compensate that-and is possible in all weathers!

What to expect from More Fun Matters classes…

Fun, Fun, Fun all the way is what owners should expect! Dogs in attendance need to be well socialised and responsive to owners, and in the majority of cases will have come from either Puppy classes or the Make It Manners class. Throughout the six weeks owners will have the chance to learn a variety of interesting and amusing games with their dogs, some as they work together in a pair, others in which they will compete against other dog owners and their dogs. Games include retrieving exercises, hiding games, chasing games, use of obedience and many others. The games are not designed to be breed specific but inevitably some breeds will have preferences for some activities over others. As with all Happier Hounds Dog Training classes these are also intended to be social occasions for both owners and dogs!

What to do before attending More Fun Matters classes…

In order to gain the most enjoyment from these classes it is important that your dog will work for you in areas of distraction. Practice basic obedience and motivate your dog to both food and toys as well as you. Feeding from the hand will encourage this as well as time spent playing with dog toys. If you dog does not take items in its mouth try and encourage this by use of a stuffed chew toy and other suitable toys.

How to book in my dog for More Fun Matters classes?…

Just contact Alison if you are interested in the More Fun Matters classes. More Fun Matters classes run for 6 weeks and cost a total of €85 for the six weeks. Owners need to commit to attending all sessions which are usually on a Wednesday evening. More Fun Matters classes are held at Happier Hounds Dog Training, located approximately 3 miles from Abbeyleix, Co. Laois on the Carlow Road.

What else can I do with my dog?…

In addition to the More Fun Matters classes Happier Hounds Dog Training also offers, Clicker Training and Introductory Agility for the owner who really wants to be centre of their dogs’ life. A discount is available for owners that progress through the classes held at Happier Hounds Dog Training. Elements of the More Fun Matters program are also delivered in a weekend workshop for owners that are interested in these activities but live too far from Happier Hounds Dog Training to attend weekly classes.
